Course Objectives

 

After completing BIO211, Introduction to Cell Biology and Genetics, students should be able to demonstrate the following:

 

  1. An understanding of the relationship between chemical structures of biomolecules and their cellular functions.
  2. An understanding of how basic cellular processes are regulated and controlled at the molecular level.
  3. An understanding of how organisms acquire store and use energy at the cellular level.
  4. An understanding of genetic information and the cellular processes associated with the replication, transmission, and expression of this information.
  5. An understanding of biotechnology and its impact on society and the environment.
  6. An understanding of core laboratory techniques used to study life at the cellular and molecular levels.
