Indicators- item; composite measures
Single item measures are used when the concept is relatively simple. E.G. gender; or The number of people who live in your household including yourself (discrete)
Composite measures use several items to measure the variable because the concept is abstract, e.g. self-esteem; level of contentment (continuous)
