Course Description:

 

For Psychology majors this course is listed as one of the possible 300 level electives in the Social/Developmental Psychology concentration.

 

My focus in this class is on the application of Social areas of Psychology.  Social Psychology can be defined as the influence of groups (whether real or implied) on the thoughts, feelings, and actions of individuals.

 

Rather than just teach theory I try to incorporate research and applications in classroom.  My goal is to get students to think about how the content of the course applies to their everyday lives.

· Impression Formation and Impression Management

· Attitude Formation and Change

· Group Influences

· Stereotypes and Prejudice

· Persuasion, Compliance, and Obedience

· Aggression

· Altruism

· Attraction and Relationships
