CONTEXT OF LESSON: Describe the focus of the lesson.  What will the students be learning today?

OBJECTIVE/UNDERSTANDING GOALS: (What do I expect my students to be able to do/understand at the

                       end of the class period.  SWBAT:

 

PERFORMANCE TASK: Use specific action verbs that describe accurate, observable student behaviors and measurable objectives. You may use bullet statements.

           

MATERIALS NEEDED:  List all the materials that you will need for this class period, i.e. overhead projector,

          title of the  worksheet you are using, title of the video, deck of cards, name tags, etc…..)

 

TEACHING:   Explain what YOU will be doing during the class period. 

                      Describe in narrative OR bullet format the actions of the teacher. 

                      Your narrative MUST include Anticipatory Set, Preview/Statement of Purpose, and Presentation of Material)

 

A. Anticipatory Set ( Initiating activity) -   How will you introduce the lesson in a way that interests the students and focuses their attention.  What “hook” are you throwing out there for your students to grab on to?

 

B. Preview/Statement of Purpose -   An actual statement made to inform the students about the lesson’s

            objective/understanding goal(s) and the way they will  meet the objective that you have

established for them.  This follows the anticipatory set and transitions you into the presentation

of material.

 

C. Presentation of  material-  This should be a step-by-step procedure of YOUR activities.  If you are using lecture,

                        include a topical outline of  your lecture notes.  You should include questions that you are going to

                        ask the students.  This plan should be written thoroughly so that a substitute teacher can use it without

                        question.

 

STUDENT ACTIVITIES:

                        These are the activities that YOUR STUDENTS will be involved in.  The Performance Tasks

                        that you listed above should be carried out by the students here.  What are your students

                        DOING to demonstrate they are working toward achieving the objective/understanding goals?

 

INDEPENDENT PRACTICE:

          OPTIONAL – This actually means HOMEWORK.  This may include the finishing of Guided Practice

            assignment at home, or it may involve a separate homework assignment  This assignment should be

           listed in the Performance Task section.

 

ASSESSMENT:  How will students’ performance tasks be assessed?  How will I give them feedback on their work?
