Prerequisite

Admission into the Public Relations Management track of the Multidisciplinary Studies master's program. Satisfactory completion of COM 610, COM 620, and COM 630.


Course Description

Practical application of knowledge acquired in COM 610, COM 620, and COM 630 through the development of a strategic public relations campaign or project. For an overview of the various phases and steps of this project see Nine Steps for Strategic Planning.

Progress Reports

Brief progress reports (1 or 2 pages each) are due at designated class meeting. In these reports, focus on two things:

1. Note any difficulties or yet-to-be-included segments in the section drafts.

2. Outline your general approach to the subsequent section, along with any anticipated difficulties.


Grade Criteria

25%: On-time submission of Section Drafts (minus 5 points for each late submission)

75%: On-time submission of Final Project

- Research section: Identification and analysis of issue, analysis of organization, identification and analysis of publics. Include original research with this section.

- Strategy section: Objectives, action/response strategy, and verbal/nonverbal communication strategy.

- Tactics section. Outline of all communication tactics, with schedule and budget.

- Evaluation section: Methodology for evaluating the achievement of objectives and effectiveness of each tactic in achieving objectives.
