Business/Product/Services:

 BTPM is your local public media station, serving the communities of Western New York and Southern Ontario.

Internship Duties:

PEOPLE OPERATIONS/HUMAN RECOURSES INTERN:

The People Operations HR intern will assist the people operations department with the execution of day-to-day tasks and employee support. The intern will gain experience in personnel initiatives including compliance, recruitment, onboarding, training, and policy implementation. Opportunities to collaborate with other departments will be available.


Essential Functions
1. Assists with talent acquisition to include, but is not limited to: i. Job description review
- Creating and coordinating job postings
- Application and resume review
- Scheduling phone screens/interviews
- Conducting phone screens
- Assessing candidate viability
- Attending job fairs (when applicable)


2. Assists with the coordination of employee engagement activities.


3. Assists with organizing and analyzing data for engagement, retention, turnover, time-to-fill, and staff surveys, as appropriate.


4. Assists with processing new hire paperwork, onboarding, and digital employee file maintenance and retention.


5. May participate in various staff-focused events and committees. 


6. Records meeting minutes as assigned.


7 Provides administrative support to the People Operations department.


8. Performs various ad hoc projects as assigned.

Computer Knowledge Required: 

 

Specific Skills Required:

 -Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters
-Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office or similar programs
- Creative, approachable, team-focused, professional demeanor
- Very good communication skills both verbal and written
- Willingness to learn, specifically in media and/or the nonprofit sector
