Assignments

Revised learning goals-5 learning goals that you will focus upon this semester. One of the goals must demonstrate that you can evaluate the effectiveness of your practice, i.e., a time series design in which you measure client change; use of goal and task achievement scaling; a client satisfaction study in which survey and sampling research methods are used; an experimental or quasi-experimental research project that evaluates an intervention directed at many clients. (The following should be described in each goal: The goal, purpose for the goal, method(s) of achieving the goal, expectations from others, documentation of your achievements). First draft is due Feb.3rd

Agency network charts-4 handwritten brief charts in which a referral source (an agency that refers clients to your field site or one to which you might refer clients) is named; address, telephone number, contact person and type of service are provided. Also mention whom they take referrals from, and whether there is a fee for services. This assignment is due on the first Tuesday of each month.

Journal-a daily record of the types of activities, your work with clients and colleagues, your impressions and feelings about your field experiences. This assignment is due on the last Tuesday of each month.
The final journal will need to include a report on the progress you made on your learning goals.

Resume and cover letter-a typewritten draft of your professional resume and a cover letter to some agency’s personnel division. This assignment is due February 10th

Your in-class presentation on the agreed upon topic outlined at the end of the fall semester and a 2-3 typewritten notes to be handed in the day of your presentation (Due date: TBA)

Case presentation asking for feedback from classmates (We’ll try to fit this in)

Report on how you evaluated your practice effectiveness (Due date: April 27th)

 Attendance is mandatory. More than 2 absences can result in your termination from field seminar. If you are unable to attend, you need to call me ASAP at 878-5324. Each absence will require a make-up assignment.
