Now that you've learned more about life during the Depression and have explored aspects from the era that apply to To Kill a Mockingbird, challenge yourself to DO something with these new insights!

Suggested Challenges:

1. Write a news article describing the outcome of Tom Robinson's trial

2. Revise the outcome of Tom Robinson's trial the way you believe it should end, then perform a skit for the class portraying the new ending

3. Make a video of a news broadcast reporting on Tom Robinson's trial, then show the video to the class

4. Investigate one of the New Deal programs and design a poster that lists its features and achievements

5. Read one of the books Scout mentions in To Kill a Mockingbird (a Hardy Boys, Tom Swift, or Tarzan novel) and write a book review for today's young adult readers

6. Use the "Glossary Builder" Web utility to compile a glossary of terms to help other students better understand vocabulary in To Kill a Mockingbird

7. Use the "Puzzlemaker" Web utility to design a crossword puzzle or cryptogram game for other students to challenge their understanding of To Kill a Mockingbird
